Glowing saucers of deep maroon—a color closest to black of any flower. Hollyhock Nigra was present in the famous gardens at Monticello! Truly a bit of history, this uniquely colored variety has been a favorite of gardeners and botanists for nearly four hundred years.

Hollyhocks flower in their second year. They appear to be perennials as they do come back year after year but they are actually biennials which self-seed prolifically.
